Veteran’s Day… Thank you! To those, I served with, those who I met after I was discharged, and to those who still serve active duty today. Only a couple I was not proud to serve with because their manners were worse than anything I’ve come across before or since. Overall, I enjoyed my active duty time.
My father was a diesel mechanic, my brother an agricultural and big rig mechanic, and we all tore apart engines and put them back together again. I joined with my sight set on being an air traffic controller. All was good until I failed my eye test. I had 15/15 vision and was color blind. They wanted to know my next career choice. Jet Mechanic, it was something I figured I could do.
I’m about four weeks into bootcamp and sitting in the chow hall I look up and there is a classmate of mine, Belinda Stroud Roberts. That was the only time our paths crossed while in the military or thereafter until facebook.
